I am Albi Assefi

an interior designer and renovator

After completing my advanced studies in interior design in London and returning to Iran in 2001, I began my professional activities in this field. I have always had a passion for infusing a sense of life and vibrancy into the people and objects around me. When I renovate old houses or design and transform various spaces, my focus is on streamlining the flow of life within those environments. However, all these changes, or rather, these new ways of living, are entirely tailored to the personality and behavioral style of the individual who has entrusted me with creating this flow.

Throughout my career in Iran, I have encountered many projects that, lacking creativity and consideration of the space’s needs, mood, and personality, merely deliver a copy of others’ work. Part of this issue stems from people’s desire to align with the celebrity-driven trends or blind modernity, which can stray from Iranian authenticity. Thus, although these spaces may appear beautiful, they often lack alignment with the individual’s spirit and fail to convey a sense of life. As a result, individuals cannot properly connect with these spaces and do not experience joy and pleasure. Therefore, in all my projects, I consider the personality, mood, and lifestyle of the individual to ensure they find happiness in their environment. The combination of creativity, authenticity, and personal suitability has ensured that my designs and renovations are unique and not found elsewhere. This distinction is maintained across all styles, whether modern, classic, or traditional, precisely tailored to what suits and pleases the individual.

One of my most notable works, which I consider the pinnacle of my renovation efforts, is reviving mirror work for the general public. These modern mirror designs have found their place in Iranian homes, reflecting a contemporary style. Viewing these examples provides a complete understanding of the story and the re-creation of this art in a unique form.

In essence, my art involves designing, revitalizing, and recreating the history of homes in a way that introduces a different life, rhythm, and story into the space. Perhaps my selection as one of the top ten finalists for the Interior Designers Festival in London in 2017 and the interest of international participants in engaging with an Eastern designer reflects this unique distinction. I summarize this with the phrase: “Designing to streamline life in a personal style.”
